Consulting in Naval Engineering

Vessel Stability Calculation

Verification of intact and damage stability of vessels or floating bodies in general, following international standards and applicable criteria.

Local and/or Global Structural Calculation

Model elaboration and calculation memory for Local or Global structural resistance verification of vessels, floating bodies, equipment bases, among others. Finite element method applied.

Cargo Securing Plan and Calculation (seafastening)

Issuance of cargo securing arrangement submitted to sea or river flooding with applied efforts and verifications, according to international regulations. Cargo securing under barges or vessels in general, with the use of chains, ratchet straps, steel cables, among others.

Anchoring Plan and Calculation

Issue of layout, list of necessary equipment for the anchoring of vessels in sheltered waters or open sea, with respective verifications and efforts calculated through software widely used in the national and international market. Table of buoys, dimensioning of moorings, poitas, among others.

Rigging Plan for Buoyed Cranes

Issue of rigging plan for operation of buoyed cranes. All dynamic amplification coefficients applied according to the applicable standard.

Vessel Motion Study (seakeeping/motions)

Modeling of the hull and crossing with its sea spectrum to obtain RAOs (Response Amplitude Operators) and taking accelerations in 3x directions (x,y and z).

Load-out/in study with shaft lines

Elaboration of Load-out/in procedure of cargo through shaft lines, observing: tide variation, vessel balance condition during activity, ballast pumps plan, among others.

Mooring Plan and Calculation

Emission of mooring plan for vessels against the quay’s edge or against other vessels’ edge, listing the material to be used (synthetic mooring cables in general) and respective efforts. Software used approved by OCIMF.

Local and/or Global Structural Calculation

Elaboration of model and calculation memory for verification of local or global structural resistance of vessels, floating bodies, equipment bases, among others. Finite element method applied.

Required Bollard Pull calculation

Memory of calculation attesting required Bollard Pull (required static traction) for a given trailer.

Sizing of ship or port terminal fender system

Calculation report and descriptive document listing the calculated efforts in ship fenders (tires, yokohamas, etc) or port fixed fenders.

On-board Tube Stowage and Sizing

Expert advice on on-board tube stowage methods or mooring applied or not to coated tubes on-board long distance vessels.

- Docking Calculation

Memory of calculation and docking plan of vessels, listing calculated efforts x indicated admissible design resistance for the support points.

On Board Cargo Stowage Calculation

Issue of arrangements and calculation of cargo quantity and respective stowage value on board vessels (General Cargo Vessels mostly).

Ship or barge Loading Manual

Issue of Loading Manual observing the balance and structural limits of the referred vessel.

Collision Analysis between Vessels

Model and analysis of collisions by using explicit dynamic method through finite elements. Determination of damage extent in cases of collisions where direction, mass and speed characteristics of the vessel are defined.

Consultancy in Ship Repair and Construction

Consultancy specialized in repair works or construction of floating structures, which can be monitored even during the progress of the work, observing the good practices of construction, welding rules and always aiming at structural continuity of the project or repaired items.

Feasibility of maritime operations

Study of technical feasibility for the several maritime operations performed along the Brazilian coast, observing technical parameters of the resources to be applied, such as tugboats, crane capacity, buoyancy reserve of rafts for a certain cargo, time x fuel consumption during maritime navigation, among others.

Preliminary Risk Analysis

A study issued listing the main activities of a certain operation and classifying them by their criticality and probability of occurrence, thus mapping the points to be observed and subject to action plans prior to the activity itself.

Survey

Monitoring the loading and unloading of cargo

Surveyor MSE monitors the loading and unloading of cargo, observing applicable resources, evaluating the general condition of the cargo and intervening in any unsafe condition observed. Real time report of the activity to the client. All professionals fluent in English.

Pipeline Lashing Verification onboard Vessels

Surveyor MSE certifies that pipelaying is in accordance with issued plans and safe for voyage.

Condition Survey

Surveyor MSE performs a general inspection of the vessel, issuing a report on the general condition of the vessel’s various systems, such as general structural condition, propulsion, steering, equipment in general, among others.

Valuation Inspection

Surveyor MSE does a general inspection of the vessel listing all equipment and items of relevant value. Analysis of the overall structural and conservation condition of the vessel. Comparison with the market and issuance of a final report indicating the suggested market value for the vessel in question.

On Hire / Off Hire Inspection

Surveyor MSE does a general inspection of the vessel reporting the general condition of delivery for charter or return of the vessel. Parameters like general structural condition, equipment, and even fuel quantity can be pertinent to report.

Damage Inspection (H&M, P&I)

Surveyor MSE inspects vessels for damage, focusing on structural condition, equipment, or cargo on board.

Draft Survey

Surveyor MSE takes draught readings before and after loading aiming to report the quantity of certain cargo on board.

Bunker Survey

Surveyor MSE reads the ullage or sounding measurements of the vessel’s fuel tanks before and after fuelling, in order to certify information about the total volumetric quantity received by the vessel.

MWS (Marine Warranty Surveyor)

Lifting, Shipping, Load outs, Anchoring, mooring, etc: MWS reviews all technical procedures issued and follows up on site operation ensuring reliable operation parameters. Highly qualified and experienced professionals are dedicated to these specific activities at MSE.

Port Captain

Loading or unloading operations of break bulk cargo or general cargo: MSE has experienced professionals to perform the activities of Port Captain in the loading and unloading of cargo of various characteristics and stevedoring.

MSE equipment available for rent

Lashing material: Ratchet straps and/or straps with buckles or chains with tensioners of several capacities for cargo lashing in maritime or land transportation. MSE has a team available to carry out lashing in any of the modals, if necessary.

Load Cells: Load Cells available for rent: 85 tons and 120 tons

Inspection and recertification of equipment

Re-certification of lifting equipment

MSE team qualified to perform re-certification in several types of lifting equipment, such as shackles, hooks, eyebolts, steel cables, slings, among others. In addition, we inspect and re-certify spreaders and other lifting implements.

Re-certification of towing equipment

MSE team qualified to perform re-certification in towing equipment, such as capstans, shackles, triplates, moorings, main towing steel cables, emergency cables, among others.

Certificates issued by MSE

Lashing Certificate

Issued for cargo lashing in transportation units, such as mafi, flatrack, open top container, iso container, among others. Certificate attesting that the cargo has been properly peened and is safe for transportation.

Bollard Pull Test Certificate (Static Traction)

Certificate indicating the tugboat’s static traction capacity.
